Toyota donated $1 million to Trump's inauguration

A spokesperson for Toyota Motor (TM.N) said on Tuesday that the company will donate $1 million to U.S. President-elect Trump's inauguration on January 20, Internet reported. A day earlier, Detroit's Ford Motor Company (F.N) and General Motors (GM.N) also said they would donate the same amount. Ford and General Motors will also provide vehicles for the inauguration, but Japan-based Toyota said it does not plan to do so. Trump's proposed tariffs on imports from Mexico and Canada would affect many North American automakers, including Toyota, which makes Tacoma pickup trucks in Mexico. Trump also intends to repeal many of current President Biden's preferential policies on electric vehicles and emissions. Other large companies, including Amazon (AMZN.O) and Meta Platforms(META.O), also donated money to the inauguration.
