UK industry associations call on government to make cryptocurrency a strategic priority

Online reports, Cointelegraph reported that several British industry associations issued a joint letter to Prime Minister Keir Starmer's office, calling for the appointment of a special special cryptocurrency envoy and the formulation of a special action plan for digital assets and blockchain technology. The joint letter was jointly signed by six digital economy industry associations, including the British Cryptographic Assets Business Council, Global Digital Finance, and Payments Association. They suggested following the U.S. approach and appointing a blockchain envoy to coordinate policies and promote innovation. Industry associations also called for the establishment of a high-level industry-government-regulatory dialogue mechanism and the establishment of specialized services to help high-potential enterprises develop. It is reported that these associations believe that cryptocurrency and blockchain technology can bring growth of 57.3 billion pounds (approximately US$73.6 billion) to the British economy in the next ten years, and are expected to contribute 1.39 trillion pounds to global GDP by 2030 (approximately US$1.8 trillion).
