Brazilian cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme mastermind sentenced to 171 years in prison
The Internet reported that a Brazilian court sentenced three main leaders of the cryptocurrency Ponzi scheme "Braiscompany" and sentenced them to a total of 171 years in prison. The mastermind of the scam, Joel Ferreira de Sousa, was sentenced to 128 years, while the other two people involved in the case, Gesana Rayane Silva and Victor Veronez, were sentenced to 27 years and 15 years respectively. The scam attracted a total of about 20,000 investors and illegally raised approximately US$190 million.
