U.S. intelligence investigates Russian mailbox linked to Georgia Election Day bomb threat
U.S. intelligence officials are investigating an email account using a Russian Internet domain name, suspected of being the source of an untrustworthy election day bomb threat in Georgia, the Internet reported. According to people familiar with the matter, investigators believe that some of the threats may originate from Russia. Although the email address may have been forged, U.S. officials have not yet confirmed that the threats did indeed originate from Russia, but they are analyzing the mailbox's activity history to determine the true source of the threat. Due to these non-credible threats, some polling stations in Union City near Atlanta were temporarily closed. Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensberg said state officials received threat information from Russia but did not elaborate on the basis of the judgment.
