Bitcoin mining company Genesis Digital Assets expands 50-megawatt mine in Texas
According to CoinDesk, private bitcoin mining company Genesis Digital Assets Limited (GDA) is expanding its bitcoin mining business in western Texas, adding 50 megawatts of power capacity to two mines in Pyote and Vernon. The expansion includes the addition of two 20-megawatt buildings at the Pyote mine, bringing the mine's total capacity to 195 MW; and the addition of a 10-megawatt container facility at the Vernon mine, bringing the mine's total capacity to 70 MW. According to the GDA website, the Pyote mine can be expanded to 370 MW. GDA currently has a total power capacity of more than 600 MW worldwide and operates 20 data centers in Texas, South Carolina, Sweden and Argentina. Company executive president Abdumalik Mirakhmedov said GDA is "one of the world's largest bitcoin mining companies with computing power." The company will participate in Texas 'demand response plan to shut down mining machines and receive compensation during peak power demand periods.
