On December 11, local time, U.S. Commerce Secretary Ray Mundo said in an interview that the Biden administration is in discussions with American chip maker Nvidia to allow Nvidia to sell artificial intelligence (AI) chips to China on a limited basis.。Recently, Nvidia CEO Huang Renxun revealed that it is cooperating with the U.S. government on the sale of chips to China.。"Given that most AI chips will be used for commercial applications," Raymundo told Reuters, Nvidia "can, will and should sell AI chips to China."。Raimundo then added that the U.S. government cannot allow Nvidia to sell "the most complex and processing-capable" AI chips to China in case China has the ability to train its own cutting-edge AI models.。
