Senator Ted Cruz plans to overturn controversial IRS crypto tax rules

Internet reports that Republican Senator Ted Cruz plans to introduce a Congressional Review Bill resolution next week that would overturn a controversial tax rule that requires certain decentralized financial brokers to file total income reports. A month ago, the IRS enacted a rule that would require "DeFi brokers" to collect user transaction information like traditional securities brokers. Some "decentralized financial industry participants" will have to send customers 1099 tax returns, which are used to report payments that are not usually from employers, such as gambling bonuses, rent and royalties. Ted Cruz said in a statement: "This rule was created to target decentralized finance. This will seriously infringe on the privacy and security of Americans, while inhibiting innovation, and may weaken the development of decentralized finance and cryptocurrency in the United States."
