U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis investigates Bitcoin sales by the U.S. Marshals Service

According to online reports, according to the U.S. political news website Politico, U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis sent a letter to the U.S. Marshals Service on January 16, questioning the rationality of its plan to sell seized bitcoins. Lummis pointed out that the hasty sell-off of bitcoin during the presidential transition runs counter to the incoming administration's policy goal of establishing a national bitcoin reserve. According to its analysis, previous inappropriate sales timing may have caused U.S. taxpayers to lose more than $18.5 billion in unrealized gains. As a Republican representative of Wyoming, Lummis asked the Marshals Service to provide more detailed information on the Bitcoin disposal plan to ensure that government asset management is in line with long-term strategic interests.
