Apple launches legal challenge to Britain's backdoor order "

Internet reports that according to the British "Financial Times", the British government has asked Apple (AAPL.O) to build a "back door" in its most secure cloud storage system, iCloud. In response, Apple is stepping up its fight with the British government and filing a legal complaint, hoping to overturn the order. According to people familiar with the matter, Apple has appealed to the Investigative Powers Tribunal, an independent judicial body that reviews complaints against British security services. The court will review whether the notice issued by the UK to Apple is legal, and if not, may order the notice to be revoked. The case will be heard as soon as this month. The government may restrict the case on national security grounds. The British government believes that breaking through encryption barriers in systems such as information and backup is crucial to protecting the public from terrorist threats and investigating child sexual abuse.
