US media: Meta antitrust case "bargaining" negotiations fail

According to Internet reports, according to the Wall Street Journal, Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta Platforms(META.O), called the head of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) at the end of March and put forward a condition: Meta would pay US$450 million to settle a protracted antitrust case that is about to go to trial. The offer is well below the $30 billion requested by the Federal Trade Commission. According to people familiar with the matter, during the conference call, Zuckerberg sounded confident that President Trump would support him at the Federal Trade Commission. Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson believes the proposal is not credible and is not prepared to accept any settlement less than $18 billion and a consent ordinance. As the trial approached, Meta once increased its offer to nearly $1 billion, people familiar with the matter said. A former Federal Trade Commission chairman said the company's $450 million settlement proposal was "delusional."
