Trump is simplifying the abolition process of federal civil servants, affecting more than 50,000 employees in policy-related positions

Internet reports that U.S. President Trump is restarting the "Schedule F" plan to simplify the federal staff abolition process, proposing to reclassify approximately 50,000 federal employees in policy-related positions (2% of the total) as "at-will" nature. The plan will weaken the U.S. civil servant protection system and make it easier for the government to fire employees deemed disloyal. Biden abolished the policy after taking office, but Trump signed an executive order to restore it on the first day of his return to the White House. Traditional federal civil servants in the United States enjoy job protection and cannot be fired for political reasons. The "Category F Plan" converts policy-making positions to "at-will" will break the 140-year-old tradition of civil servant neutrality under the Pendleton Act. The U.S. Federal Office of Personnel Management requires agencies to submit job reorganization proposals by April 20. The opposition accused the Trump administration of this move that would lead to a "political purge" of the government and undermine the professional civil service system.
