Voting machines in some districts in central Iowa, United States, failed."
Internet reports that a spokesperson for the Office of the Secretary of State of Iowa said on the 5th that voting machines in some districts in Storry County in the central state have failed, and auditors are working with suppliers and the Office of the Secretary of State to resolve the problem. The spokesman said technical problems with the voting machines would not affect voting, but could affect the speed at which the county reports voting results. Storey County auditors said machines at about 12 of the county's 45 polling stations were unable to read "certain ballot patterns." The machine has been tested and the cause of the technical failure is unclear. Local officials said election workers must now conduct manual counting at these locations.
