Cash on delivery problems frequent Thailand a number of initiatives to maintain network security
In view of the frequent cash on delivery problems, the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand held a meeting to discuss the safety of online shopping。
With the boom in online shopping, the form of cash on delivery (COD), which requires the consignee to pay for the goods at the time of delivery, is becoming more and more popular.。Payment terms and methods (cash, cheque or electronic) vary depending on the purchase agreement。
New Internet scams cause "shopping difficulties"
Surge in cash-on-delivery usage thanks to advances in fintech, which makes online shopping more convenient and credible。But at the same time, some criminals have devised new methods of fraud - they may disguise themselves as courier companies, call consumers, or ask them to pay for so-called "orders," or deliberately send goods by mistake and ask them to return them.。
And if the recipient isn't there, they'll even ask a neighbor or other family member to pay。Today, online shopping in the Indian market is very hot, in this case, consumers should be more careful to guard against this new type of fraud。
Not only that, the criminals will also transfer the goods to deceive the cash on delivery shoppers.。After the recipient pays, it is found that the package either does not match the description, is unordered, or is of poor quality and cannot be used but cannot be refunded because the criminals have concealed key information (such as the shipper's contact information) so that it cannot be identified or traced.。
Thai government moves to improve consumption environment
Statistics show that from March 2022 to September 2023, there were more than 130,000 online transaction fraud cases in Thailand, with social media platforms being particularly prominent.。
In view of this, Thai Minister of Digital Economy and Society (DE) Prasert Chandraruangthong, Minister Adviser Suthikiat Weerakijpanich, Deputy Permanent Secretary of Thailand's Ministry of Development Wetang Puangsap attended the meeting to address security issues in Thailand's online transactions, especially cash on delivery。Key points discussed at the meeting included:
1.Develop delivery standards for logistics companies and e-commerce platforms, such as simplifying the process of delaying transfers to merchants or shippers, and optimizing the channels and timelines for recipients to submit complaints。
2.Perfect shipper authentication。
3.Establish a central database and improve the requirements for the exchange of logistics information, which has an impact on consumer privacy.。
As a result, Thailand has recently taken action to step up efforts to address online shopping safety issues.。Prasert said the above measures will alleviate the Thai public's concerns about online consumption, and will also help improve the overall security of the country's network and better adapt to the development law of the digital age.。
