Brazil freezes Starlink bank accounts! Musk blasts Brazilian judge: outright criminal
Musk's clash with Brazilian Supreme Court Judge Moraes escalated again on Thursday, August 29, local time.
On the same day, Moraes froze the financial accounts of Musk's StarChain, which was banned from conducting financial transactions in Brazil, and StarChain posted on X that it would respond to the order through legal means.
In response, Musk blasted Moraes on X, calling him “a complete and utter criminal masquerading as a judge.”
Musk's clash with Moraes originated at X. In April, Moraes asked X to block some popular accounts in an effort to combat hate speech and disinformation, while Musk criticized the blocking ruling and refused to enforce it.
Morais then made the decision to investigate Musk and said in a statement sent to the media that if X failed to comply with the ruling to block certain accounts, the company would face fines of about $20,000 per day.
On Aug. 17 local time, X announced it would immediately shut down its operations in Brazil. on Aug. 18 Morais issued an order freezing StarChain's bank accounts in order to force Musk to pay a fine for X.
