Suriname presidential candidate Maya Parbhoe: If elected president, Bitcoin will be legal tender
Internet reports that Maya Parbhoe, the presidential candidate of the South American country of Suriname, has an ambitious vision to build a Bitcoin country more deeply rooted in cryptocurrency than El Salvador. Parbhoe, who is also CEO of Daedalus Labs, a Bitcoin and NOSTR-based service company, has proposed a bold plan to fight corruption and provide tangible benefits to citizens by adopting the Bitcoin standard-provided she wins the upcoming 2025 election. Her top priority is to make Bitcoin (BTC) legal tender once she takes office. During the first year, she plans to gradually replace the Suriname dollar with satoshi (the smallest unit of Bitcoin) and ensure that all salaries are paid in BTC.
