Policy director at Bitcoin Policy Institute: U.S. lawmakers may amend securities laws to grant crypto token passports
According to online reports, Zack Shapiro, policy director at the Bitcoin Policy Institute, said that lawmakers are only a few years away from passing a market structure bill, which may rewrite and amend securities laws, essentially giving a passport to cryptocurrencies. He added that Congress may also pass a stablecoin bill in the next few months. White House cryptocurrency chief David Sachs has recently titled the Trump administration to prioritize a bill involving stablecoin rules. The White House believes this move is crucial to maintaining the dominance of the US dollar, so among the many new developments Trump has proposed (such as creating a national bitcoin reserve), it is most confident in passing the stablecoin bill this year.
