Lockbit ransomware developer Rostislav Panev has been extradited to the United States
Internet reports that according to Bitcoin.com, Lockbit ransomware developer Rostislav Panev has been extradited to the United States and is currently detained and awaiting trial. According to allegations from the U.S. Department of Justice, he has been a programmer of the software since 2022 and accepted cryptocurrency transfers worth approximately US$230,000. As the server is seized and related parties plead guilty, Lockbit may be further cracked down. However, key figures such as the group's leader, Dmitry Khoroshev, are still at large. It is reported that Russian citizen Ruslan Magomedovich Astamirov and Mikhail Vasiliev, who holds dual Canadian and Russian citizenship, have also been identified as members of the Lockbit organization. They were arrested in 2023 and 2022 and may face up to 25 years and 45 years in prison respectively.
