Trump shouted: The EU must buy US$350 billion in U.S. energy to receive tariff exemptions."
Internet reports, Politico reported that U.S. President Trump said late on Monday that the European Union would have to commit to buying $350 billion in U.S. energy to get a break from comprehensive tariffs, rejecting Brussels 'proposal to impose "zero-to-zero" tariffs on automobiles and industrial products. The comment was in response to European Commission President Von der Leyen's statement earlier on Monday that the EU would reduce tariffs on automobiles and industrial products imported from the United States to zero if Trump responded. When asked by reporters whether the proposal was enough to get him to give in, Trump said: "No, it's not enough." Trump said: "We have a $350 billion trade deficit with the EU and it will disappear quickly. One way to make the deficit disappear easily and quickly is that they have to buy energy from us... They can buy, and we can offset $350 billion in a week. They must and make a commitment to buy the same value of energy."
