Robinhood CEO advocates updating SEC investor rules to promote tokenization
Online reports, According to The Block, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev published an opinion article in the Washington Post on Tuesday, calling on the United States to update investment regulations to allow start-ups to tokenize their equity. He pointed out that the current "qualified investor" rules in the United States are too strict, limiting the opportunities for ordinary investors to participate in the private equity market. Tenev suggested that the SEC take the following measures: Change the "qualified investor" recognition criterion from a wealth threshold to a "self-certification" mechanism, establish a security-based token registration system, and develop clear guidelines for the listing of tokens in the U.S. It is noteworthy that at the time of publication of the article, the Trump administration has formed a cryptocurrency working group, led by Acting SEC Chairman Mark Uyeda, to design a new regulatory framework. This is in sharp contrast to Gary Gensler's strict regulatory attitude during the Biden administration. "The world is moving towards tokenization, and the United States cannot lag behind,"Tenev said, pointing out that the European Union, Hong Kong, Singapore and Abu Dhabi have all led the United States in formulating comprehensive cryptocurrency rules.
