Vice President Vance: The United States and the United Kingdom are likely to reach an agreement on trade that is in the best interests of both countries
Internet reports that U.S. Vice President Vance said that due to President Trump's love for Britain and the royal family, the United States and the United Kingdom are likely to reach a "great agreement" on trade. In Trump's original tariff statement, Britain was not punished with the harshest penalty because the two sides 'trade relationship was basically balanced. Still, UK imports to the United States now pay a 10% tariff, while the UK's steel and automotive industries pay a 25% tariff. Officials from the two countries have been in talks for weeks, initially focusing on strengthening cooperation on artificial intelligence and technology, but could also expand to food and other goods. Vance said the U.S. government is working very hard with the government of British Prime Minister John Starmer. Speaking of the cultural affinity between the United States and the United Kingdom, Vance said: "I think there is a good chance that we will reach a great deal that is in the best interests of both countries."
