Blockchain startup BTQ proposes a more energy-efficient alternative to POW
Researchers at BTQ, a startup working on building blockchain technology that is resistant to quantum computer attacks, recently published a journal article proposing an alternative to the proof-of-work (PoW) algorithm involving quantum technology, called Coarse Boson Sampling (CGBS), according to online reports. The method uses light particles (bosons) to generate unique patterns (samples) to reflect the current state of the blockchain, rather than hash-based mathematical puzzles. It is reported that this method replaces the traditional PoW encryption problem with quantum sampling tasks, significantly reducing energy consumption, while ensuring network security and decentralization.
