Deutsche Bank: Basent and Trump's weekend comments may signal change to markets
Deutsche Bank analyst Jim Reid said despite the relative calm over the weekend, we did hear from Besant and Trump, who seemed to be telling us they were ready for some of the pain of repositioning the economy. "We may see the economy we inherited starting to roll a little bit," Besent said. There is a natural adjustment when we shift from public spending to private spending. Markets and economies have been fascinated. We are addicted to government spending, and this will be a period of withdrawal." At the same time, Trump said,"There will be a transition period because what we are doing is very big." We are bringing wealth back to America. This is a big deal. What I want to do is build a strong country. You can't really observe the stock market." On the face of it, these quoted remarks suggest that their pain levels are higher than most people believed a few weeks ago.
