Telegram CEO: EU media censorship is growing, while Russia maintains free access "

Internet reports that Telegram CEO Pavel Durov criticized EU media restrictions, emphasizing that Russian users enjoy greater freedom than European users. On Tuesday, Durov commented in a post on social media platform X: "Under DSA/Sanctions Law, the EU restricts access to certain Russian media. At the same time, all Western media Telegram channels are still freely accessible in Russia. Who would have thought that in 2025 Russian Telegram users would enjoy more freedom than Europeans?" Durov's remarks reflect growing unease over the EU's Digital Services Act (DSA) and sanctions aimed at curbing false information and blocking Russian state media. Although the EU believes the measures are crucial to maintaining information integrity, critics, including Durov, believe they could erode the principles of free speech.
