Fintech firm Adyen has opened a new office in Toronto to strengthen its presence in Canada and appointed Ilona Fagyas as head of sales.

Strengthening its presence in Canada

Adyen has significantly strengthened its presence in Canada since 2020, expanding its team to 26 people to support local and international businesses.Fagyas joins Adyen as Head of Sales for Canada.

Sander Meijers, Adyen's Country Manager for Canada, said, "The opening of Adyen's Toronto office is an important milestone in Adyen's continued expansion in Canada, and our growth has been fuelled by our team's consistent approach to assisting our growing customer base with innovative payment technology. Advances in payments technology have driven many organisations and businesses to transform their technology stacks and operations to increase the flexibility and convenience of payments.

Ilona has over 15 years of sales management experience in the Canadian FinTech industry, with expertise gained from her previous roles at TD, Chase and PayPal. Her background includes multiple President's Club designations for outstanding sales performance. At Adyen, Ilona will focus on expanding the firm's presence in Canada and strengthening its commerce business.

Adyen's innovative fintech platform is transforming payment solutions across Canada, and the company has established local partnerships, launched new products and attracted merchants such as Moose Knuckles and Mejuri.

Adyen Expands Partnerships

Adyen recently partnered with Italian restaurant group Vapiano to enhance the group's customer experience. Through this partnership, Adyen will enhance Vapiano's checkout process to enable customers to customise their checkout and use digital wallet payments for mobile ordering.

The partnership stems from a campaign run by one of Vapiano's London restaurants, where 80 per cent of orders were made via mobile phone, highlighting the growing interest in more payment options.

Adyenc has also partnered with coffee chain Cotti Coffee with the aim of expanding Cotti Coffee's services to Canada, Australia, Japan, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates. Since the opening of its first shop in October 2022, Cotti Coffee has expanded to 28 countries worldwide.
