New Generation Processors
On Tuesday, April 16th, Advanced Micro Devices launched the Ryzen Pro 8040 series laptop processors and Ryzen Pro 8000 series desktop processors, supporting multiple brands including HP and Lenovo. These processors utilize advanced 4-nanometer technology and are considered among the most powerful commercial PC processors currently available.
Core Technology and Manufacturing
Rather than producing chips in-house, Advanced Micro Devices outsources its production to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), the world's largest contract chipmaker. Currently, TSMC is equipped with the capability to produce 3-nanometer chips and plans to commence mass production of 2-nanometer chips in 2025.
Industry Trends and Market Forecast
AI personal computers are seen as a new trend in the industry. Major players like Advanced Micro Devices and Intel are integrating AI functionalities into personal computers to meet the growing market demand. According to Gartner forecasts, shipments of AI PCs are expected to account for 22% of all PCs in 2024, reaching an estimated 54.5 million units.
