WWDC24 schedule details announced: 10th morning show Keynote, afternoon to discuss software progress

This WWDC24 has not yet revealed the news of the release of hardware devices, so this is likely to be an artificial intelligence event only about iOS 18.

On May 29, Apple announced the schedule details for the 2024 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), which will be held from June 10 to 14, Pacific Time. During this time, Apple is expected to release a series of AI-infused software upgrades, including iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, tvOS 18, watchOS 11, and visionOS 2.

WWDC24日程细节公布:10日上午展示Keynote,下午探讨软件进展

Specifically, on June 10 at 10:00 AM Pacific Time (1:00 AM Beijing Time on June 11), Apple will present the opening Keynote, showcasing the company's groundbreaking achievements for the year. The Keynote will be live-streamed on certain Apple applications, and users can also watch it on-demand on streaming platforms.

At 1:00 PM Pacific Time on June 10 (4:00 AM Beijing Time on June 11), the Platforms State of the Union will take place. In this session, Apple will delve into the latest developments in iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, visionOS, and watchOS, while also introducing new tools that could further enhance the capabilities of Apple developers.

In addition, throughout the week following the event's kickoff, Apple will offer a series of activities including expert interactions, lecture video guides, next-generation developer challenges, and the Apple Design Awards.

Susan Prescott, Apple's Vice President, stated that WWDC24 will be an extraordinary week filled with technology and community exchange, aimed at providing developers with innovative tools and resources.

Gene Munster, Managing Partner at Deepwater Asset Management, predicts that WWDC24 is likely to mark the launch of Apple's AIGC strategy. Munster expects that Apple CEO Tim Cook will not delve deeply into artificial intelligence in the company's March quarterly report; instead, he will direct investors to WWDC. He suggests that the event may feature Apple's most important announcement since 2007, focusing on the development of its operating systems.

Munster believes that Apple will follow in the footsteps of Microsoft, Alphabet, and Google by integrating generative AI into its operating system interfaces, including iOS, macOS, applications, and Siri. The focus is on Siri, with multiple reports indicating that Apple will upgrade the voice assistant to an AI version. Currently, while Siri can use some AI skills for user recommendations, this functionality is far from the conversational generative AI experience like ChatGPT.

It is understood that since March, Apple has been fully committed to AIGC. Firstly, they have been negotiating with Google, hoping to license the Gemini AI model for future iPhones. Secondly, employees from the disbanded automotive department have been transferred to the AI department to bolster the think tank.

Notably, there has been no news of hardware device releases at this WWDC24, so it is likely to be an event solely focused on the AI aspects of iOS 18. In this AIGC race, Apple is catching up quickly.
