Kraken Lianchuang sues apartment cooperative: denied purchase due to cryptocurrency background "

On February 6, Jesse Powell, co-founder of cryptocurrency exchange Kraken, filed a lawsuit in the San Francisco Superior Court, accusing the cooperative's board of directors of the apartment building at 2500 Steiner Street of discriminately preventing him from purchasing a house. The indictment alleges that Powell was rejected for reasons including his association with the cryptocurrency industry, his experience of having his residence searched by the FBI in early 2023, and his support for conservative causes. Powell said the apartment building's board of directors rejected his purchase application without giving clear reasons. Currently, the listing price of a 325-square-meter property in the apartment building is close to US$10 million.
