On April 18th, the cheapest Ideal car in history and the first model under 300,000 yuan in the Ideal family - the Ideal L6 was officially released. The new car comes in two versions, Pro and Max, with the Pro version starting at 249,800 yuan, and the Max version starting at 279,800 yuan. It is positioned as a family 5-seater luxury SUV, and the new car will start small batch delivery next week and large batch delivery in May.

The first sale benefits are as follows: a 10,000 yuan optional fund + a 5,000 yuan home charging pile installation service + a 5,000 yuan deposit offset of 10,000 yuan, with the total value of the first sale benefits provided by the official being 20,000 yuan.

In terms of the car model, the Ideal L6 has dimensions of 4,925mm in length, 1,960mm in width, and 1,735mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,920mm. Compared to the Ideal L7, the Ideal L6 is 12.5cm shorter in length and 8.5cm shorter in wheelbase. In terms of color, it offers four free car paints: black metallic paint, gray metallic paint, silver metallic paint, and white pearl paint, with an optional green special edition pearl paint and elephant gray special edition cold light paint for 10,000 yuan. Inside, there are three interior choices: black and white dual-tone interior, black and orange dual-tone interior, and black sports interior.

In the cabin, the Ideal L6 is equipped with a 15.7-inch LCD dual-screen (3K resolution), an internal Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P processor, 19 speakers, and 4 sets of dual-microphone array microphones. The front row comes standard with SPA-level ten-point massage seats (ten points on the back), and two 50W fan-equipped wireless charging panels. The difference is that the Pro version has a premium sound system and does not come with a thermoelectric refrigerator; the Max version is equipped with platinum sound and provides an 8.8L thermoelectric refrigerator, consuming 0.5 degrees of electricity per day.

In terms of power, the Ideal L6 is equipped with a 1.5T four-cylinder range extender, dual-motor intelligent four-wheel drive, CDC sports suspension, and a 36.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate power battery (equipped with a heat pump thermal management system). The motor's peak power is 300 kW, and the maximum torque is 529 Nm, with a zero to hundred acceleration of 5.4 seconds.

In terms of range, which is a concern for the market, the Ideal L6 has a CLTC comprehensive working condition range of 1,390 kilometers and a pure electric range of 212 kilometers. It supports 3.5 kW external power supply, and charging from 20% to 80% only takes 20 minutes. To further reduce costs, the battery capacity of the entire L6 series has been reduced to 36.8 kWh, and the battery material is lithium iron phosphate; in addition, the fuel tank capacity of the L6 is 60L, which is 5L less than the L7 Max version.

It is worth noting that Ideal has also developed a heat pump-based thermal management system for the L6, ensuring that the winter range is also guaranteed.

In terms of intelligent driving, the Pro version is equipped with the Horizon Journey 5 chip (128 TOPS), with 1 8-megapixel camera, 5 2-megapixel cameras, 4 300-megapixel 360° panoramic cameras, 1 forward millimeter-wave radar, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. The Max version is upgraded with 2 NVIDIA Orin-X chips (508 TOPS), equipped with 128-line LiDAR, LED intelligent driving assistance lights, and the camera part has also been upgraded. Overall, the L6 has not reduced its configuration in intelligent driving, and full-scene intelligent driving NOA, full-scene assistance driving LCC, intelligent parking, and active safety are still standard configurations for the L6 Max.

It is understood that the Ideal L6 is built on Ideal's second-generation range extension platform. Ideal Automobile officials stated that the car took three years to develop, with an investment of over 2 billion yuan, and Ideal has created a brand new production line for the car.

At the Ideal L6 launch event, Ideal Automobile's chairman and CEO, Li Xiang, said: 'Before the launch of the Ideal ONE, we wanted to introduce a range-extended model, which was not well received by the capital market, and it was difficult to seek capital. However, I wanted to build cars for myself and users, not for capital, so I continued to choose the route of range-extended models.'

In fact, compared to the passenger car market space above 300,000 yuan where the Ideal L7 and L8 are located, the passenger car market space between 200,000 and 300,000 yuan is even broader. According to data released by Cui Dongshu, the Secretary-General of the National Passenger Car Market Information Joint Conference, the retail sales share of passenger cars priced between 200,000 and 300,000 yuan in the Chinese market in 2023 was 15.9%, the retail sales share of passenger cars priced between 300,000 and 400,000 yuan was 11%, and the retail sales share of passenger cars priced above 400,000 yuan was 3.2%.

It is worth mentioning that against the backdrop of Ideal's overall adjustment of the first quarter delivery target, Ideal's expectations for the Ideal L6 have not been reduced. Internally, they believe that 'the steady state is still over 20,000 units per month.' Liu Jie, the president of Ideal's product line, once said: 'In the entire price range of 200,000 to 300,000 yuan, we hope to achieve about 10% market share per month by the end of this year.”
