Japan equipments lower at the closing of session; Nikkei 225 down 0.10%

On Monday (May 6), the Japanese stock market closed lower, driven by declines in industries such as transportation, shipping, and warehousing. At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 Index fell by 0.10%.

Kansai Electric Power Co., Ltd. (TYO: 9503) was the top performer in the Nikkei 225 Index, rising by 4.98% at the close, up 119.00 points to 2,510.00. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Corporation (TYO: 8053) gained 4.37%, up 180.00 points to close at 4,300.00, and J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (TYO: 3086) climbed 3.68% in late trading, up 50.50 points to 1,422.50.

Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co., Ltd. TYO: 4506) was the worst performer of the day, closing down 6.75%, dropping 27.00 points to 373.00. CyberAgent Inc (TYO: 4751) declined by 4.09%, down 40.20 points to close at 942.20, while Mazda Motor Corporation (TYO: 7261) fell by 3.24%, down 58.00 points to 1,730.00.

At the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the number of declining stocks exceeded the number of advancing stocks, with a ratio of 0 to 0.

The Nikkei Volatility, measuring the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 Index options, fell by 3.63% to 19.91.

Crude oil futures for June delivery rose by 0.67%, up $0.52 to $78.63 per barrel. Brent crude oil futures for July delivery increased by 0.61%, up $0.51 to $83.47 per barrel, while June gold futures contracts rose by 0.58%, up $13.50 to $2,322.10 per troy ounce.

The USD/JPY pair rose by 0.55% to 153.82, while the EUR/JPY pair increased by 0.51% to 165.51. US Dollar Index futures rose by 0.12% to 105.04.
