Samsung Electronics held its "Galaxy Unpacked" event in Paris, officially launching a range of new products including foldable smartphones, wireless earbuds, and highlighting the expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) functionalities in its new devices.

This event expanded Samsung's ecosystem of wearable devices, introducing the Galaxy Ring and Galaxy Watch Ultra, aiming to challenge Apple (AAPL) in the wearable device market.

Foldable Smartphones

Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6

Samsung simultaneously launched the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 foldable smartphones, emphasizing new AI features during the event. Executive VP Lu Tai-wen stated that AI capabilities are crucial in reclaiming the title of the world's largest foldable smartphone manufacturer. Currently, Samsung is collaborating with companies like Google (GOOGL) and Microsoft (MSFT) to meet consumers' evolving demands in AI technology.

1. Interpreter Mode: The Galaxy Z Fold6 introduced "Interpreter Mode," allowing users to fold the phone halfway and utilize both the back and inner screens to provide real-time translation of conversations displayed on the screen, facilitating cross-language communication.

2. Real-Time Translation Expansion: Samsung previously introduced real-time translation capabilities in the Samsung Call app, which has now been expanded to third-party applications like WhatsApp.

Galaxy Ring

Samsung entered the smart ring market for the first time with the official launch of the Galaxy Ring. This lightweight smart ring is equipped with all-day health monitoring sensors capable of tracking health data such as sleep, menstrual cycles, heart rate, and physical activity. It is available in nine different sizes, weighing between 2.3 to 3 grams. The battery lasts up to seven days and comes in three colors: black, silver, and gold.

The Galaxy Ring is positioned as a health tracking device designed to complement smartphones and smartwatches. Through the Samsung Health platform, users can conveniently access and manage health data collected using AI technology.

Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra

The Galaxy Watch 7 is the latest version of Samsung's flagship smartwatch, while the Galaxy Watch Ultra is designed for professional athletes. Both watches feature a 5-core Exynos W1000 processor built on a 3nm process, delivering a three-fold performance improvement over the previous generation. The new BioActive sensor significantly enhances sensing capabilities, and the use of dual-frequency GPS (L1+L5) technology improves location accuracy.

Samsung states that when these two smartwatches are combined with the Galaxy Ring, they provide deeper health insights.

Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro

Samsung completely redesigned the Galaxy Buds3 series wireless earbuds, enhancing communication experiences through Galaxy AI.

Hardware-wise, Galaxy Buds3 features active noise cancellation adjustment, alert detection, and voice detection, automatically adjusting volume and noise reduction based on the user's environment for an enhanced user experience. Galaxy Buds3 Pro is equipped with dual-driver units for more refined high-frequency performance, and dual speakers enable users to hear clear sound even in noisy environments.

When Galaxy Buds3 are connected to Galaxy Z Fold6 or Flip6, users can activate the "Listening Mode" of the "Voice Translation" feature through the smartphone, directly listening to foreign language lectures and performing real-time translations, overcoming language barriers. Additionally, users can control music playback through simple voice commands using the "Voice Control" feature without touching the earbuds or smartphone.
