North Korea's Ministry of Defense reported on October 17 that North Korea has completely closed the roads and railways connecting South Korea in the southern border area.
According to information released by a spokesman for the Ministry of Defense of North Korea, at noon on the 15th, North Korea completely closed the roads and railways in the Ganhuri area of Gaocheng County, Gangwon Province, and the roads and railways in the Dongneili area of Banmen District, Kaicheng City, by blasting.
Reports said that North Korea took blasting measures to physically completely cut off the roads and railways on the North Korean side connected to South Korea. This is a legal measure taken by North Korea in accordance with North Korea's constitutional requirements that "define South Korea as a complete hostile country" and the serious security environment where serious political and military provocations by hostile forces have caused war to be imminent.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Environmental Protection of North Korea said that the blasting had no negative impact on the surrounding ecological environment, and the connecting channel between North Korea and South Korea has been completely separated since then.
A spokesman for North Korea's Defense Ministry said that North Korea will continue to take measures to permanently fortify the closed southern border.
