El Salvador cancels Bitcoin as an official currency "

Internet reports that El Salvador's parliament, controlled by the ruling party, has just quietly approved a reform of the Bitcoin law, which makes the use of Bitcoin as an official currency ineffective and leaves it up to users 'discretion. The reform came after nearly two years of pressure from the International Monetary Fund, which set a condition to "reduce the risk of bitcoin" in exchange for Kenyan President Nayib Bukele approving a much-needed $1.4 billion loan. If the Salvadoran government wants to receive the money, it must change the law before the last day of January. After more than three years of implementation of the law, representatives revised six of its articles and repealed three of its sixteen articles. From now on, Bitcoin will no longer be considered a "currency"; its acceptance will change from mandatory to voluntary and will not be used for tax purposes.
