US proposes extending Gaza ceasefire to April
Internet reports that the United States has proposed a plan to extend the current ceasefire in Gaza until April, making it last beyond Ramadan and Passover. According to a statement released by the White House on Friday, the proposal is intended to provide more time for negotiations to permanently end hostilities. The proposal, known as the "transition" plan, was made Wednesday by U.S. special envoy for the Middle East Viktor Witkov and National Security Council official Eric Trager, according to a statement from the relevant office. The statement further elaborated that the proposal had been conveyed to Hamas through its Qatar and Egyptian partners. The statement made it clear that this "transition" plan needs to be implemented as soon as possible. In addition, the proposal also calls for the immediate release of Idan Alexander, who holds dual U.S. and Israeli citizenship.
