Argentine President Javier Milei faces impeachment for supporting LIBRA tokens

Internet reports that Argentine President Javier Milei is facing impeachment threats for supporting a cryptocurrency called LIBRA. The cryptocurrency was purportedly designed to support small businesses, but actually collapsed within hours and lost billions of dollars in value. In an X post posted late Friday (now deleted), Millay promoted LIBRA as a privately run project designed to raise funds for small and medium-sized companies in Argentina, adding that he would not gain personal benefits from the project. Amid confusion about the legality of Millay's tweets, the market value of the token quickly soared to about $4.5 billion, amid speculation that his account might have been hacked or that a fraudster had deceived him. Five hours later, Millay deleted the post, saying he "didn't know the details of the project." Now that he learned the news, he has chosen not to continue promoting it.
