Trump will strengthen control over independent federal agencies, including regulatory functions of the SEC and the Federal Reserve
Internet reports that according to the British Financial Times, US President Trump will strengthen control over independent federal agencies. This is Trump's latest move to strengthen control over government agencies. Late Tuesday, President Trump signed an executive order "binding independent agencies," ordering agencies to submit draft regulations for review, the White House said in a statement. Trump will also develop "performance standards" for agencies that must "consult" with the White House on "priorities and strategic plans." Agencies targeted by the executive order include the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). The White House said the Fed's monetary policy functions are not restricted by the executive order, but its regulatory functions are restricted.
