Illinois will withdraw its pledge lawsuit against Coinbase "

Internet reported that a spokesperson for Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias told CoinDesk that Illinois will soon withdraw its pledge lawsuit against Coinbase, joining the ranks of three other U.S. states that have recently abandoned lawsuits against the exchange. However, when asked when the case might be dropped, the spokesperson declined to comment. Illinois was one of 10 U.S. states to file charges against Coinbase in 2023, accusing it of violating state securities laws through a pledge program. The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) also accused Coinbase of violating federal securities laws by its pledged products, but dropped the lawsuit in February. Since the SEC dropped the case, state securities regulators in Kentucky, Vermont and South Carolina have also dropped their cases against the exchange.
