Analyst: Under the tariff policy, the average American household bears an additional cost of $775."
Analysts at UBS said in a research note that in the tough retail industry, industry participants expect that suppliers, retailers and consumers will bear the additional costs of tariffs roughly equally, but this trend will not happen in a linear manner. "The higher the tariffs, the more likely the added costs will be borne by consumers," analysts said, adding that the average household will need to absorb about $775 in retail price increases. Analysts say such costs could be significant for most families, given that about two-thirds of U.S. households earn $100,000 or less a year. (Jin Shi)
