Trump's 10% benchmark tariff policy officially took effect at 12:00 Beijing time."

Internet reports that at 0:01 local time on Saturday (12:01 Beijing time), Trump imposed a 10% tariff on all U.S. imports, and the equivalent tariff will take effect next Wednesday. The 10% benchmark tariff came into effect at U.S. seaports, airports and customs warehouses, marking Trump's complete abandonment of the tariff rate system agreed upon with all parties after World War II. Kelly Ann Shaw, Trump's White House trade adviser during his first term, said "this was the biggest trade action of our lives" and she expected tariffs to change over time as countries seek to negotiate lower interest rates. "But it's a big deal. This is a huge and significant shift in the way we trade with every country in the world." (Jin Shi)
