Thailand seized 63 illegal encryption mining equipment, stealing electricity worth more than US$327,000
On March 17, officials from Thailand's Central Bureau of Investigation (CIB) seized 63 illegal crypto mining machines last Friday. These illegal crypto mining equipment were worth about 2 million baht (US$60,000) and were found in three abandoned houses in Patum Thani Province. Officials raided after local residents complained that unidentified people had stolen electricity from utility poles and transformers in the area. Locals suspect that stolen electricity is being used for cryptocurrency mining operations hidden in abandoned buildings. Investigators estimate that stolen electricity from the three houses due to crypto mining caused more than 11 million baht (US$327,000) in damage to the electricity bureau.
