Indian police officer faces investigation for allegedly tampering with crypto-asset evidence

Internet reports that four police officers from the Central Crime Branch in Bangalore, India, are under investigation on suspicion of tampering with evidence of encrypted assets. These assets come from the criminal proceeds of international hacker Srikrishna Ramesh. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) found that after arresting Sriki in 2020, police officers illegally used his encrypted wallet and transferred bitcoins through private network experts. Currently, relevant investigations are still ongoing and may involve broader corruption practices.
