Google and OpenAI join forces to ask Trump to relax artificial intelligence copyright restrictions

Google and OpenAI have joined forces to urge President Donald Trump's administration to relax restrictions on artificial intelligence training, especially on the use of copyrighted material, the Internet reported. Both technology giants submitted policy proposals on Thursday, advocating a more flexible approach to artificial intelligence regulation as the U.S. government prepares to develop an "artificial intelligence action plan" in mid-2025. The proposal submitted by Google and OpenAI is a response to President Trump's new focus on artificial intelligence regulation after he revoked the previous administration's executive order on artificial intelligence in January 2025. OpenAI and Google believe that relaxing intellectual property barriers is crucial to promoting innovation and maintaining U.S. leadership in artificial intelligence development.
