The U.S. Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) took over and deleted the U.S. CFPB website homepage and platform X accounts."

Network reports that according to CNN, people familiar with the matter revealed that Russell Water, director of the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB), took over as acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) on Friday night, while the Government Efficiency Department led by Elon Musk (DOGE) officials took over and deleted the CFPB's X account on Friday night. Musk posted a tweet "CFPB RIP" on the X platform on Friday afternoon with a tombstone emoji. The home page of the CFPB official website displays the "404 page does not exist" error message, but other parts of the website are still accessible. Sources said officials from the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) have obtained management authority over the CFPB system, including the content management system, website back-end and personnel activity directory. The current atmosphere within the CFPB is "full of frustration and anger." Neither the White House nor the CFPB responded to CNN's request for comment.
