Online reports, according to CNBC, payment company Stripe officially completed its acquisition of stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge on Tuesday at a cost of US$1.1 billion. This is Stripe's largest acquisition to date, marking its major deployment in the stablecoin space. Bridge's team of approximately 60 people has completed its onboarding at Stripe headquarters in San Francisco. Bridge is focused on helping companies accept stablecoin payments while reducing the complexity of direct access to digital assets, and its customers include Coinbase and SpaceX. Stripe supported Bitcoin payments in 2014, but terminated the service in 2018. The acquisition of Bridge allows it to optimize cross-border payment solutions and expand stablecoin payment infrastructure. Stripe currently handles millions of cross-border transactions every day, with an annual growth rate of 50%.
