ASML's Dutch HQ expansion plans approved by Supreme Court
ASML has been granted permission by the Dutch Supreme Court to go ahead with plans to expand its headquarters in Feldhoven, the Netherlands, rejecting objections from two neighbouring residents.
On July 3, semiconductor equipment manufacturer ASML (stock code: ASML) received approval from the Dutch Supreme Court to proceed with its expansion plans at its headquarters in Veldhoven, Netherlands, overturning objections from two nearby residents.
ASML's expansion plans originally received approval from the Veldhoven City Council in 2022. Complaints regarding potential traffic and noise issues from the expansion were deemed insufficient by the Dutch Supreme Court.
Regarding proposals to expand ASML underground, the Dutch court pointed out that due to the precision nature of the equipment assembled at the site, underground expansion is not feasible operationally.
The judge stated, "Any unintended movement could severely damage the equipment before assembly and packaging of components."
Furthermore, ASML signed a memorandum of understanding in April this year, planning to construct a new factory/office area in the southern Netherlands by 2030, expected to accommodate up to 20,000 employees.
