The Canadian Securities Authority (CSA) warned registrants that someone posing as CSA Chairman and Alberta Securities Commission Chairman and CEO Stan Magidson sent an email.。The CSA is the governing body of Canada's provincial and territorial securities regulators, coordinating and harmonizing the regulation of Canada's capital markets.。
The emails are believed to be malicious "phishing" by unidentified people trying to obtain personal or confidential business information.。CSA is monitoring the matter and the CSA system has not been compromised。
CSA strongly appeals to anyone who receives an email from CSA to consider the following:
- Is the message from a true, consistent, and verifiable email address?
- Is the message from someone you know who works at CSA or its member agencies?
- Are you expecting to receive this email?
- If you clicked the link or opened the attachment, be sure to take immediate steps to change your email password。
If you receive a suspicious email claiming to be from a CSA, contact that regulator。
