CySEC issues warning to people posing as its representatives
Regulators have found some people posing as CySEC officers or representatives to claim fees from investors in exchange for bogus compensation claims settlements.。
The Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) today issued a warning against people posing as its representatives。
Regulators have identified a number of people posing as CySEC officials or representatives to claim fees from investors in exchange for settlements of bogus compensation claims related to companies under CySEC supervision.。
CySEC also warned people not to impersonate CySEC websites, which include CySEC logos, announcements, images and email addresses.。Another fake website contains links to a fake list of approved Cyprus investment companies and contains links to multiple unauthorized or scam brokers.。
In addition to this, CySEC stressed that the agency will never contact or send unsolicited letters by phone, nor will it request personal data, financial data or other data.。
Regulators urge investors to contact CySEC before taking any action, via info @ cysec.gov.cy confirms the authenticity of the communication。
Real e-mail from CySEC contains an email with gov.addresses ending in cy - although some fraudsters have cloned these addresses as well。
CySEC does not have the authority or jurisdiction to collect fees from individual investors for any purpose and does not have the authority to appoint any person to do so on its behalf。CySEC does not authorize, verify, monitor, or in any way participate in class actions, compensation programs, payments between natural persons or legal entities, or any public or private institution.。
