Disney and Warner Bros to Provide a Streaming Package
Disney Warner Bros. will begin offering a streaming bundle of Disney+, Hulu and Max streaming services in the U.S. this summer.
According to a statement released on May 7, Disney (NASDAQ: DIS) and Warner Bros. (NASDAQ: WBD) will begin offering bundled sales of their Disney+, Hulu, and Max streaming services in the United States this summer. Customers can sign up on any of the three websites and choose between ad-free or ad-supported plans. Specific prices have not been disclosed yet.
Over the years, both Disney and Warner Bros. have been working to develop their streaming businesses as customers have been unwilling to pay hefty bundled fees for dozens of channels, abandoning traditional cable bundling services. However, with the increase in the number of streaming apps, consumers have complained about having to subscribe to multiple services.
Subsequently, Disney and Warner Bros.' bundled sales will simplify payments through a single subscription and may be cheaper than individually subscribing to each app.
Disney+ offers the company's animated and live-action films, as well as movies and TV shows from Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar. Hulu provides series and movies from networks like FX and ABC. Cable networks such as HBO, HGTV, Food Network, and Discovery Channel can be watched on Warner Bros.' Max.
Currently, Disney+ and Hulu can be accessed through a single app, so subscribers to the new bundled sales will be able to watch all programs through two apps.
Following the announcement, the stocks of Disney and Warner Bros. remained stable in after-hours trading.
