Vietnam builds its own e-commerce platform and cooperates to promote agricultural digitization
Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade establishes its own e-commerce platform to promote the digitalization of its agriculture and actively promote the development of digital finance。
Recently, the Vietnamese government found that local agricultural enterprises and cooperatives often encounter problems such as limited production capacity and limited operational capacity when operating digital platforms, and their smaller business scale also affects sales performance.。
Vu Quang Phong, director of the Trade and Investment Promotion Center under the Vietnam Cooperative Union, said that the trend of digital transformation of the country's agriculture is inevitable, driven by young consumers.。However, due to difficulties in terms of size and funding, cooperatives are not sure if they can fully engage in the process, as they do not know how to invest in human resources or how to conduct a comprehensive marketing and advertising campaign.。
In the online sales of agricultural products, e-commerce is not only the harvest and sale of products, but also the need to invest in packaging, logistics, transportation and promotion activities.。Local enterprises need systematic support to solve these problems, such as guidance and training in online promotion, product image building, product packaging and preservation, customer care and after-sales service。
Bui Huy Hoang, deputy director of the Information and Digital Technology Center of the Department of Electronic Commerce and Digital Economy (iDEA) of Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade, pointed out that these shortcomings stem from the limited learning awareness and available resources of local companies, and that many companies lack sufficient professionals in information technology, sales and marketing.。
To address these issues, Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has established an e-commerce platform, sanviet.vn, unifying the country's 63 provinces and municipalities。The platform supports sellers to put goods on shelves online, facilitates communication services between buyers and sellers, and creates favorable conditions for a transparent and healthy competitive e-commerce market.。Not only that, the platform will also help build a central and local national online centralized retail database to provide consumers with the best quality products at reasonable prices.。
On the other hand, the Ministry of Industry and Trade also cooperates with provinces, localities and major e-commerce platforms to train cooperatives and businesses, impart professional and technical knowledge to them, and adjust their production and business models to help them adapt to emerging business trends.。
The professors of the Ministry of Industry and Trade who participated in the project made great contributions to opening stores, operating and processing orders, managing logistics and product maintenance on the e-commerce platform.。Recently, they launched a series of links and training programs among e-commerce merchants across Vietnam, focusing on strengthening inter-regional connectivity and promoting the sale of agricultural products, food and local specialties through e-commerce channels.。
At the same time, the Mekong Delta technology trading platform of Can Tho City, an area with a high e-commerce index, has become an important information channel for enterprises and cooperatives in the region to discover and display products.。
The platform provides support and guidance to hundreds of enterprises and cooperatives, enabling them to set up online trading platforms to promote the development of the digital economy in agriculture and rural areas.。In addition, the city has also arranged training programs to allow many production and operation sites and families to bring products to the platform.。
With the influence of the e-commerce distribution mechanism, Vietnamese agricultural products and local specialties have benefited from their wide coverage and gained high visibility in many provinces and cities.。In the future, Vietnam's Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to carry out cross-border e-commerce cooperation projects with major international private enterprises and e-commerce platforms.。
In line with the Vietnamese government's efforts to expand access to financial services, the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) recently launched a "Technical Assistance Program" to promote the development of financial technology.。The $5 million program, funded by Switzerland, aims to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), including those owned and led by women (WSMEs), to obtain financing.。
This initiative is part of the promotion of digital finance in the country, which is conducive to creating a safe and healthy market environment, fostering a prosperous digital finance ecosystem, and is in line with the government's goal of improving financial services for consumers and SMEs.。
