These trading platforms try to arouse consumer curiosity by placing scam ads on social media or online video platforms.。In these fake ads, there are often (well-known) people explaining how to get rich quick。
Such trading platforms also sometimes use mobile apps to lure victims。These fake ads or mobile apps often offer virtual currencies, trading software, or training courses。After the victim clicks on an ad or downloads a mobile app and provides contact details, the scammer usually calls them quickly with specific investment advice (stocks, alternative investment products, virtual currencies, etc.)。
There are also trading platforms that connect with consumers through dating apps and fake social media accounts.。In addition, many trading platforms use WhatsApp and Telegram。
The FSMA noted that some fraudulent trading platforms offer so-called "affiliate schemes" to consumers, showing signs of pyramid schemes.。
These platforms act very aggressively。They often claim to hold authorizations from fake financial authorities and display them in order to appear trustworthy.。The scammers even tried to convince their victims to allow them to remotely control their computers in order to make certain transfers.。The scammers also tried to convince their victims to put in more and more money。They also promised a last remittance in exchange.。It's a way to collect more money from the victim.。
Victims who agreed to do so complained in particular that they were "unable to recover the money" or that "the platforms they invested in never heard from again."。
These are likely cases of investment fraud。The fraudster not only acts without the necessary authorization, but also transfers the investor's funds。In this case, investors cannot recover their funds because these illegal service providers are generally abroad.。
