US SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce: Crypto Working Group welcomes reasonable exemptions and non-enforcement action applications
The Internet reported that after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) held its first cryptocurrency roundtable, Commissioner Hester Peirce shared some key points. She pointed out that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission needs to consider crypto trading separately from assets. Many crypto assets are not securities themselves, but the main issuance of crypto assets used for financing purposes is securities trading. Therefore, the U.S. SEC is willing to accept inquiries about how to conduct such issuance in the form of registered or exempt transactions. The Task Force welcomes well-reasoned requests for no-action letters or exemptive relief. Note: Hester Peirce currently leads the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's Crypto Working Group.
